June 2009

Here is the summary of the past month’s shit:

In my stupor, I stumbled upon this video some bloke created depicting his version on AC.

Angeles City, Philippines

It has been raining like a SOB the past month. Quite a few instances of flooding. The rear-ass of the Swagman and Koala Hotel got swept off. This flooding of “Balibago Creek” was directly due to greed. The ClarkAB and several new subdivisions along the route of the creek, just decided, without giving a fuck about the environmental calamities, to build a slew of new drainage viaducts leading....not to the Abacan “lahar” river, which is immensely larger and better equipped to handle such water flow, but to this tiny little creek weaving through Balibago. Fucking retards.

That retail-area reno near Checkpoint is nearing completion. We see a new “Ministop” (competition to 7-11) sign there. A perfect location.

Random Pictures:

a) Lookin’ for love in all the wrong places. LOL! Wasn’t that guy a papas an somewhere on Fields before?

b) Hello! Remember me? Don’t touch me. I am crazy and smell putrid.

c) The last remaining Dirty Market at Checkpoint. The price of “progress”. LOL!

d) These gotta be the “safest” joints to change money at in AC...at fucking Checkpoint! LOL! Do ya see the “pamily” of beggars perched outside one of them (Remy&Lynda)? LOL!

e) Streettrash in front of the Shawarma place across from Genesis Bar on Fields. Yes, it IS getting worse.

Pool Aficionado: (in that tiny plaza beside Honeykos Bar)

Cute name. Simple but nice layout. Decent stock of Billiard supplies including Pool Table parts.

Clark Airport City Terminal:

Now sporting a FOR SALE sign. Rumor has it they are asking 30 million PHP. Its gonna be interesting trying to sell a place that is still neck-deep in litigation. LOL! Anyone wanna buy a bridge?

Same goes for the monstrosity at the foot of Fields behind the McDonalds. Remember when they had those little scrabby shops and that Japanese massage shitbox down there? Ahhh...those were the days long gone. Welcome to the new AC. Ya think...just for a moment...that such monstrosities just MIGHT attract more beggars, criminals, and dirty-cops/politicians to target us poreigners in AC? Do ya think?

That HUGE lot beside the Lewis Grand Hotel has recently been cleared, levelled and babboo-fencing-poles installed. Looks like another sucker development rising. LOL! The Field of Broken Dreams.

Da Bars:

Cheer’s Bar:

Now that the Renovirus is seemingly over, they have a banner stating; “Hiring – Immediate start.” Pretty fucking hard if applicants have only an metal gated frontage to apply to. Sorta hard to have an “immediate start” in a place that ain’t even open. LOL! The new name is now posted; "Touch of Velvet". How fucking creative. LOL!

Genesis Bar:

Still suffering the Renovirus.

Valhallah Bar:

Reopen! Will wonders never cease! I’ll bet there is a hell of a story about that one. LOLL!

Big Hits:

It is now finally open. It is justly luring the MadDogs and other bikers on Saturdays. Not much more to say yet about the place.

Stars Plaza Entertainment Bar: (Diamond Subdv.)

Renovirus over. Reopen now. Same prices as Dollhouse but far prettier girls.

Tartz – Now Shady Lady Bar:

Another losing prospect. Another Renovirus. Not open yet.

Pink Lady Bar: (Oasis Compound)

Moving to First Street near Julianas Bar. Perhaps they will finally fair better over there.

Pony Tails Bar: (formerly the Saloon bar that fucked every owner/partner in there. LOL!)

Owned by...believe it or not...Dollhouse Group. The DoubleLD Group hits Perimeter/Checkpoint. Brave move.

Club Asia:

Still suffering from Renovirus

Stargate:

Still open, regardless of who the fuck owns it now. Cool picture though at twilight. LOL!

Hotels/Apartelles:

The Donald Paul Apartelle:

This notice seen on the back of their service-trikes; “Voted #1 Hotel”. Now WHO the fuck decided that? LOL! The inheritor is really some quirky dude. Haven’t seen his monkey around for awhile. Did it die or did he just eat it? LOL!

Swagman Hotel/Koala:

Lost the rear 18 rooms to a rainy-season-flood. Poor construction? Poor planning? Listen, it lasted for years, so why worry, mate? LOL!

Oasis Hotel:

Desperate discounting of their rooms. The Lewis Grand has nabbed a lot of their “conference folks” with a far nicer and larger facility. Times are tough in this town. LOL!

ABC Hotel:

“I love ABC Hotel”. Holding/held it’s “First time ever daytime beach party” on July 4th 2:00pm-5:00pm. Other than guests at the hotel...do you think anyone will/did show up? Nope. Big surprise. Not! LOL! Free meal and drink all you can for a whopping TWO HOURS for 750php? No thanks. “legendary mega-parties”? Nope. “chances they’d come up with a ‘pretty good’ party. Nope either. All razz and no dazz.

Another thing....do ya see the new “sign” they have mounted out front at the entrance? Can you spell; “D-E-S-P-E-R-A-T-E”? LOL! Do ya think any hotel that claims its fully-booked...need to embarrass itself by such “used-car-salesman-like” advertising like that? LOL!

Balibago Center Hotel:

Has anyone actually ever BEEN into that place? Cool sign though. LOL!

Restaurants:

Europe Deli: (Checkpoint, across Margarita Station)

Drinks, food, shampoo, conditioner, soap...all on display in the window. What a fucking embarrassment. LOL!

Kokomos:

July 14th Pool Party. Lets hope they get no “Legal” difficulties with that one. It has been eons since anyone has pulled a pool party in AC.

Rikako Curry House:

Can you spell; “D-I-S-M-A-L”? LOL!

Tequila Reef:

Yes, they still have cute waitresses, yes they have finally figured out how NOT to overcook food, but NO it STILL ain’t Soi-7. LOL!

The Bavarian Lion: (Friendship Highway, beside Timog Park Homes)

Funny vibes. Good homemade food, but tiny portions. Not very “Bavarian-like”. LOL! Cute as heaven waitresses in their little “Fräulein” uniforms. Their selection of German beer is also pathetically limited. Maik, one of the partners is a great host though, coming over to the table to welcome the guest...something not done ANYWHERE in any dining establishment in AC...other than Chris at C’Dining.

It is a heck of an “out-in-the-woods” kinda place. Is it worth visiting? Well, if you are REALLY bored and have your own transportation, or don’t mind taking a short Jeepney ride to and down Friendship Highway. The waitresses ARE delicious. LOL!

Bourbon Street:

STILL under...yes....you guessed it....another fucking RENOVATION! LOL! The La Pasha Group has leased it and is reportedly reno-ing it to be an adjoining bar to Fantasy Bar nex-door called; “Genises” or something like that.

Carinderia of The Month:

Vilma’s Carinderia – a bastion of cleanliness. Right amidst the smog and filth of Checkpoint. It’s a real gastronomic heartbreaker. Can you spell; T-A-S-T-Y ? LOL!

Screaming Eagle Cafe: (Formerly Easy Rider)

Still open. Still struggling but have their band-night getting abit popular. Rumor has it they struck a deal with the MadDogs to become their “official” watering hole. Funny, at last checked they were perching out at Great Hits Bar. LOL!
